A Scripture prayer inspired by Psalm 139:23–24, Psalm 51:10, Romans 8:26–27 and the quiet invitation to allow God not only to change what we do, but to transform who we are becoming.
Father,
Search me and know my heart.
Test me and know my thoughts.
Show me anything within me that is not of You, and lead me in Your way.
Wash me, Lord.
Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.
Do not simply change what I do.
Change who I am becoming.
Make me more like Jesus.
When I don’t know how to pray, thank You that Your Spirit knows.
Take the things I cannot put into words and carry them before You.
When life hurts and I cannot understand what You are doing, teach me to hope.
I know that not everything that happens is good, but I trust that You can bring good even from what was never good.
When I am troubled, remind me that I am not destroyed.
When I am perplexed, remind me that I am not abandoned.
I am only a fragile jar of clay, but the power within me comes from You.
Renew me day by day.
And when fear comes, remind me that Jesus died for me, rose for me, and still intercedes for me.
Nothing can separate me from Your love.
So search me.
Cleanse me.
Carry me.
Transform me.
And through it all, Lord,
make me more like Jesus.
Amen.
